Take Action

SOS: Doing a little more
PADF and Haiti cannot do this alone. It needs your help. You can help in a number of ways. Using what we call SOS, below are three suggestions:

1.    Share this website with your friends. Please include a personal note about how their participation – whether they sign up for a free newsletter or make a donation – will make a difference.
2.    Organize an activity that will raise funds for Haiti. Let PADF know in advance and we’ll try to get you some literature or supporting materials.

3.    Stay tuned for more information. PADF updates its website with new details and creative ways to help our Caribbean neighbors.

How Your Donation Will Help
PADF’s campaign called “I Too Am Haiti” is designed to raise awareness of the issues surrounding forced labor and human trafficking on the Haiti. It is also intended to raise money. Donations made to PADF’s “I Too Am Haiti” campaign will be used in a number of ways, including:

1.    Provide support to shelters and other programs that help children who have been the victims of human rights abuses, including forced labor, human trafficking and violence.

2.    Advocacy for increased legislation in Haiti that will protect the rights of children.

3.    Continued training of civic organizations and others to identify and help children who have been the victims of human rights abuse.

4.    Advocacy in the United States for more human rights and development assistance from the U.S. government and multilateral institutions.

5.    Promotion of Haiti’s need for both human rights and economic assistance from individuals, corporations and foundations.

6.    Support of community-driven economic development initiatives that will benefit Haiti’s most vulnerable population. This economic situation is one of the leading causes of forced labor and human trafficking.
